Wash and trim the asparagus spears and pat dry on some kitchen paper.
Place the asparagus in a bowl, drizzle over the olive oil and season to taste with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Give everything a good mix to cover the spears.
Place the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet and pop into the oven to roast for 12-15 minutes, removing the tray for the oven half way through to turn the asparagus over.
The asparagus is cooked when it has softened a little but still has some bite. It will also have started to catch and started to brown a little with the heat of the oven.
Remove from the oven and serve immediately.
Notes
If you would like to add extra flavour to the asparagus grate over some fresh Parmesan cheese and/or some lemon zest. This can either be done before placing in the oven so that the cheese and zest cook with the asparagus. Or added as a fresh burst of flavour once cooked.
