the Plough, East Sheen, London

The Plough in East Sheen, close to Richmond park is a friendly local pub serving great contemporary, seasonal food. A great special’s menu too!

On a recent trip to London I had the good fortune to eat at The Plough, a gastro-pub situated close to my friends house in East Sheen, not far from Richmond Park. This classic British pub is busy, therefore booking is definitely recommended. Alongside the food the pub boasts a good selection of beers and a decent wine list. The Inn is welcoming, with a warm and comfortable seating area. However, also boast a large beer garden should the sun be shining.

On the night we ate there, a busy Friday night in May, there were few free seats. The menu was excellent making it difficult to decide what to choose. We opted to have a main and dessert as from experience my friend knew the portions to be generous. Our mains arrived piping hot and beautifully plated. My friend ordered a very tasty looking steak pie whilst I ordered the delicious main of perfectly cooked slow roasted pork belly with colcannon and chorizo gravy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, it fell apart and the chorizo gravy packed lots of flavour. Our desserts were both tasty, a chocolate fudge sundae and a pear and almond tart.  Service was friendly and well informed, the waitress helping me decide upon my main, I like when staff are helpful, understand the menu and have an opinion.

The Plough is pub food done really well and I cannot recommend it enough if you happen to be in the area.

“One of the delights of life is eating with friends; second to that is talking about eating. And, for an unsurpassed double whammy, there is talking about eating while you are eating with friends. People who like to cook like to talk about food.” (Laurie Colwin, Home Cooking, 1988) more about us...
