supperclub – an autumn dinner by Lost in Food!
As we say goodbye to Summer and head into Autumn we thought it was time to host another of our Supperclubs. The difference this time? We would not be partaking of the food ourselves, no this time it was all about our guests. A lovely group of guests they were too, our friends Alison, Sarah, Karen and Laura. This group was ideal as it also required us to cater vegetarian for our friend Laura.
We believe a Supperclub should be intimate, small groups of people brought together to enjoy food. As with past Supperclubs, we focused on good seasonal cooking, using what’s good to eat right now. Here’s our menu for the evening, together with wines paired for each course. We have also attached some photographs that we managed on the night, albeit snapped quickly on our phones as we were busy behind the counter cooking!
our menu:
on arrival: kir royale cocktail
to start: charred tender-stem broccoli, pear, walnut, doux de montange, shallot (wine: soave superior – Italy)
main – meat: roast belly of pork, calvero nero, apple, dauphinoise potato
main – vegetarian: butternut squash, roasted red pepper, courgette, pesto, comte, hassleback potato (wine: pinot noir – New Zealand)
to finish – blackcurrant mousse cake (wine – muscatel de Valencia – Spain)
