Last night saw Michelle and I heading to Banchory for the weber barbecue roadshow being held at Raemoir Garden Centre. This 2+ hour cookery demonstration run by Richard and Martin was ideal for those of you who, like us, love a barbecue but aspire to do a bit more than simply grill food.
Chef Richard cooked using a combination of weber equipment: charcoal BBQ; gas BBQ; a smoker; and a variety of their accessories. In the 2 hours Richard prepared from scratch and cooked the following: grilled english asparagus with poached duck egg, crispy pancetta and truffle oil; Whisky smoked Chateaubriand with scallops, king prawns and coal roasted sweet potato; Pizza; and Tarte Tatin. All very delicious (if the faces of two small children sampling was anything to go by) and all whilst imparting a vast amount of useful information, cookery times, temperatures, etc.
We have both come away with a nice shopping list, I’m fancying a new Mastertouch charcoal bbq and a (rather lengthy) variety of accessories, including their wok, poultry roaster and pizza stone, whereas Michelle has her eye on a Smokey Mountain Cooker (which she’ll hopefully share)!
We thoroughly recommend this event to anyone who loves barbecuing but fancies doing something a bit different and unexpected. We will keep an eye out for future events and let you know.0
