As we promised in our “simple sauces for spring” post, we plan to bring you a couple of sauces each season. We find that having a few simple sauce recipes to hand can, at times, be a real time saver, whilst at the same time providing you with a tasty alternative in approaching everyday foods.
In the case of our first recipe, this simple pasta sauce is quick to prepare and an excellent way to hide vegetables from children, helping us get ever closer to our 5-a-day. It’s also a great way to use up any leftover roast vegetables that you might have after the previous nights dinner.
The second sauce is a chimichurri sauce that’s ready in minutes and completely transforms grilled meats. We served this with steak for dinner and our friends happily doused the steak in the sauce. It’s a common misconception that sauces must be difficult if they pack that much flavour, but that is so often not the case. We hope you will find these versatile sauces both delicious, and a welcome addition to your repertoire.
